Linking

You probably want to create hyperlinks in your articles to a variety of content types and sources. The WYSIWYG editors for Joomla provide tools to make this easier for those not familiar with HTML. I will review how to handle different linking situations below.

Definitions

  • Anchor text: this is the visible text that you click on to go to the source of the link.
  • Target: When you click on a link, the new page can open in the same window, a new window or a new window without navigation. If you are linking to another page on your website you probably want the link to open in the same window. But if you are linking to a page on some else's website you might want the page to open in a new window. That way, when the visitor is done and closes the external page, your website will still be open.

Linking to external web pages

The easiest link to explain is to an external website. Fill in the complete URL in the insert link dialog box.
